Ingredients

  • 150 g unsalted butter
  • 100 g soft brown sugar
  • 50 g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 190 g all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 90 g semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks
  • Flaky salt optional

Preparation

  1. Cream the butter with the sugars.
  2. Add the eggs one at a time and mix.
  3. Fold in the flour, baking powder and salt without over-mixing.
  4. Add the chocolate chips and mix with your hands.
  5. Chill the dough, covered, in the fridge for 2 hours.
  6. Shape into balls (45 g filled or 140 g plain) and freeze them.
  7. Bake at 205 °C for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Leave to cool on a wire rack.
